After having lurked in patriots.win for a while and comparing it with polling data, tentatively I conclude that most of the people that use this forum belong to either to the most enthusiastic part of MAGA, or even beyond that, to hard-core conspiracy thinkers (that are not necessarily loyal to MAGA). There are also people active on the forum that are openly racist, but it’s unclear to what extend those are real people. They might be trolls or foreign agents trying to stoke conflict within the US. (I couldn’t find research on the influence of foreign agents or bots on patriots.win.) My guesstimate is that patriots.win represents the viewpoints of perhaps 20% of US voters, at most 30% (there are individuals that seem a bit more center, but those are often accused by the rest, of being intruders from the left, or Europe, or being bots). In other words, the forum is probably too extreme for a lot of republicans, perhaps even some Trump loyalists might find patriots.win too extreme. Nevertheless, at least some of the people on the forum seem to think that their viewpoints represent some kind of majority view (or the view of “real” Americans, or even “the people”).¹
They may be entertaining conflicting thoughts. Obviously they know that liberals do not agree, and that’s already almost half the country. They’re also aware of Reaganite republicans (who they hate). On some level they must be aware that actually most of the US is not in their extreme camp, but perhaps they consider those people hardly human and therefore don’t count. Perhaps they think: they themselves represent the viewpoint of mentally “sane” people, everybody else is somehow mentally defective.
