Things In My Vietnamese House That Just Make Sense Uyen Ninh (3.15M)

@BubsyMupsy 1 month ago (edited) All this is almost same as in south India. Kerala is a southern state of India on the shore and has a tropical climate. It is very humid and very hot and sweaty all the time! So houses are very similar. There are no windows without rails. They protect not only from thieves, but also from animals( monkeys, mongoose etc). Then there are metal rail doors on most doors too with locks, so his way the house is locked yet open for ventilation. There are ceiling fans in every room, but no AC. Nowadays people install AC, but mainly in bedrooms for surviving the night. As houses are open floor design and too big to use AC everywhere and all the time. They are built with the mindset of having cross ventilation through all doors and windows. Some houses don’t even install mosquito nets on doors and windows, just close windows before sunset. And always protecting from sun or rain ( there are 2 heavy rain seasons during the year, monsoons). And because coconut trees are everywhere , they use each and every part of the tree for something- roofing, brooms, baskets, cooking or drinking the coconut, using the shells and shell covers for fire for cooking or for ropes and jute products etc..
